OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process established for the universal Church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation — Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. This initiation process also involves a parish community experiencing a renewal in faith as it prepares and welcomes new members into the Church. The Rite speaks of conversion as a “spiritual journey.” Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church he founded, this journey takes place through distinct stages over a period of time suitable to bring about a thorough catechesis, significant experience of the parish community and commitment to the liturgical and moral life of the Catholic faithful.
Who is OCIA for?
1. Persons in need of Baptism.
2. Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic.
3. Persons baptized Catholic in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation.

OCIA Inquiry Night
August 27 | 6 p.m. | Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Center Basement
Every great journey begins with a question. Have you ever wondered what Catholics believe? Are you thinking about becoming Catholic? Were you baptized in another Christian tradition? Are you an adult Catholic who has never received First Communion or Confirmation? Or maybe you’re a lifelong Catholic who just wants to grow in your faith.
Our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) Inquiry Night is a relaxed, no-pressure opportunity to ask questions, meet others on a similar journey and learn what becoming Catholic is all about. Coming to Inquiry Night does not commit you to anything; it's simply an opportunity to explore. Bring your questions. Bring your curiosity. We'd love to meet you and walk with you wherever you are on your journey.
