Baptism
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: 'Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.' "
- Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213
Baptism is the first Sacrament of Christian Initiation. A sacrament of initiation (which you can only receive one time), you only receive baptism once. The recipient receives justifying and sanctifying grace when baptized, and the Holy Spirit begins to dwell within them. St. Paul describes baptism as the “first installment of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s possession, to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:14).
Parents of Baptism candidates are expected to be registered, participating, contributing members of the parish. First-time parents must attend a baptism preparation class before the baptism.
Parents are asked to choose someone to serve as a godparent or sponsor for their child. Godparents play a very important role in your child's spiritual life and should serve as a role model of the faith. One man and one woman can be selected for this important role. At least one godparent must be Catholic, but one can be baptized in another Christian faith.
Baptisms are celebrated after weekend Masses. To schedule a baptism, contact Breana Taylor at [email protected].

Baptismal Preparation Classes
The baptismal preparation class is for all new parents and is required for baptism. Godparents are also welcome to attend! The topic of the class goes beyond the baptism to Catholic parenting and teaching by example. Children's faith education begins at birth with parents as the primary teachers. Our parish community can offer support to the parents in many ways throughout their lives, but it is parents who influence children the most.
