Confirmation

For students wanting to have the sacrament of Confirmation, our parish celebrates this sacrament during the child's sophomore high school year.  Preparation for the sacrament occurs during the religious education classes that year. Please contact Shelley Weiss at (812) 768-6457.
  • Confirmation:  Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 4:30 pm Mass at Holy Cross (Combined Class HC/SPP)

For adults wanting to have the sacrament of Confirmation, our parish celebrates this sacrament within the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Program (RCIA).

The Church teaches

Confirmation is different from baptism. It is administered by laying-on of hands and anointing with chrism accompanied by prayer. The chrism is blessed by the bishop and usually the bishop administers the sacrament. All baptized persons can be confirmed.
Picture
The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."
